Dennis Cagan, CEO

Mr. Cagan is a high-technology industry executive and successful entrepreneur for 42 years, having founded over a dozen different companies.  In addition to his entrepreneurial activities Mr. Cagan is a seasoned CEO/Chairman and has been a c-level executive (both public and private companies), consultant, venture capitalist, private investor, and professional board member (43 corporate Boards) for over 33 years.

Dennis is an internationally recognized authority in information technology, including: Internet, software, hardware, and communications, in the disciplines of strategy, sales, distribution channels, marketing, services, logistics and distribution. On more than one occasion Mr. Cagan has been responsible for international sales and has actively done business in 35 countries.  He has authored dozens of articles and spoken frequently.  In 1979 he was the Keynote Speaker at the first COMDEX Show in Las Vegas. In 1976 he founded the David Jamison Carlyle Corp. (his 5th start-up), turning it into one of the country's largest distributors of computer peripherals, and taking DJC public in 1981.  Mr. Cagan has an impressive track record of both ramp-up and turn-around experience.

Over the years Mr. Cagan has had consulting relationships with companies large and small including AT&T, IBM, Digital, BellSouth, Kodak, Xerox, General Electric, TRW, Wang, U.S. West and others.  Since 1985 Mr. Cagan has often served as an interim C-level executive - usually for companies where he was already a member of the Board.

From May 2006 to July 2008 Mr. Cagan stepped in as a Board Member and served as the Chairman, CEO and President of TWL Corporation (TWLO.OB) based in Carrollton, Texas.  Prior to running TWL Dennis was the founder, Chairman and CEO of the Santa Barbara Technology Group, LLC, a private incubator and investment (venture capital) firm engaged primarily in working with, and investing in early-stage technology companies.

Mr. Cagan currently serves on four corporate Boards of Directors.  He attended the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) where he majored in economics, and he has an honorable discharge from the USMC.  Mr. Cagan is active in his church, and he and his wife Angelia live in Plano with their youngest of four daughters.

John K. Washington, President and CFO

Johnny has over 25 years of experience providing bookkeeping, financial processing, debt & equity finance, income tax preparation and tax resolution.  Johnny Washington is the Chief Financial Officer of SureBooks LLC and is President and General Partner of Precision One LP, a commercial real estate development company; Mr. Washington has considerable expertise in the world of finance; including corporate finance, asset management, multi-entity capital structuring, taxation, capital formation and traditional accounting services.  Along with the resources of SureBooks LLC, he is currently serving as Controller or Chief Financial Officer of several other companies.  Mr. Washington has created a system that provides a more cost effective solution of services and proficiencies to companies that do not have an "in-house" Controller or CFO.

Max Toy, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Sales

Mr. Toy has more than 25 years of leadership experience building/rebuilding global brands and guiding top-tier companies. An accomplished corporate strategist and marketer, his vision and expertise in business performance have driven notable enterprise growth in the personal computer, enterprise software, and networked devices markets. His achievements have been featured in Wall Street Journal, CRN, Wireless News, Byte, Computer Chronicles, NBC, as well as other business media.

Offering a rare blend of creative and operational strengths, Max has achieved exciting company and product turnarounds and is recognized for his success in growing sales and profits. His strategic approach to building a business is reflected in his work as CEO of Rapport Technologies and Ashton Tate, where his concept creation and focus on channel development, combined with product-line mix quickly delivered impressive bottom-line results.

He brought his problem identification and project leadership skills to bear to deliver impressive and timely, outsourced results to major corporations such as Microsoft, IBM, Compaq, Pana-Pacific, Pepsi, and Digital Equipment.

His turnaround capability is highlighted by his accomplishments as President of the Commodore, Ashton Tate, and ITT where he led distressed companies to profitability and growth through brand revitalization that included major shifts in brand strategy, operations, product design, packaging, market positioning, communications, and channel alignment.

Steve Seymour, CTO

As the owner and CEO of CMIT Solutions of Plano, Steve provided support and consulting to SureBooks for over 4 years, and decided to join SureBooks LLC as CTO in 2008.  His background in large-scale IT Systems design, project management, and IT consultation to Small Businesses makes him the ideal person help J. Washington Company build their world-class IT infrastructure that will service small, growing companies all over the United States. Steve Seymour graduated from Clarkson University with a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1986.

Mark Hensley, Director of Product Management

 Mark Hensley has over 20 years of experience delivering client-centered technology solutions to the accounting and tax industry.  He has led and consulted on product development and direction efforts for start-up, mid-growth, and Fortune 1000 companies.  His previous positions include Senior Director of Professional Services and Software for the Tax & Accounting division of Thomson Reuters, Vice-President of Content Development at ATX-Kleinrock, and Director of Tax Software for Tax & Accounting Software Corporation.  In these previous roles, he performed customer-focused product management duties at every phase of the product life cycle.  He has worked extensively with customers, product development, customer service, sales, and marketing to deliver successful solutions that gain wide acceptance in the marketplace.

 Prior to his technology experience, Mark worked as a senior tax associate for PricewaterhouseCoopers, a prestigious international accounting firm.  Mark earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master of Science in Taxation from Oklahoma State University.  He is married and has two children.

  Rich Golem, Business Development Manager

 Rich has over 20 years experience in the accounting and tax industry, and was an integral part of driving growth in business segments serving accountants for two industry leaders, Lacerte Professional Tax Software and Intuit, Inc.  With a broad based background in product management and software development, he developed a unique perspective on creative problem solving in both entrepreneurial and corporate environments.  Rich has a proven track record of delivering outstanding business results and high levels of customer satisfaction in several progressive management roles within the Lacerte Tax Development group, and as the leader of Intuit's Professional Education group.  While leading the Professional Education business, he was actively involved in the development of the accountant channel, one of Intuit's most important customer segments.  Rich is noted for his energetic leadership approach, strong customer focus and ability to build strong teams.  Rich started his career as a Tax Accountant for Price Waterhouse.
